This 8 week class will focus on the individual and developing the skills needed to perform. Students must have taken at least 10 previous silks classes to be eligible for this workshop or prior approval from the instructor is necessary. Classes will begin with light stretching and will conclude with intensive stretching and conditioning exercises. Throughout the duration of the workshop students will work on developing a routine, performance character, and will have guidance on music selection and costumes.

Students will have the use of Tivo to review their performance with the instructor and their peers.

Cost of the class includes 8 Friday night classes and 2 “Working with Style and Music” classes which students must sign up for when they enroll in the IAW.

Workshop concludes with a performance in a show!!!

Students are allowed 1 makeup class with 24 hours notice.

Classes are 2 hours in length and have a maximum of 4 students. Check the announcements page for IAW schedule and pricing.

What to Wear

Clothing should be snug fitting and elastic but very comfortable and easy move around in. We suggest long tights, running tights, or dance tights paired with a snug top. No loose-fitting clothing, which is a hindrance on the apparatus, and no shorts, which don't protect your skin.

Reservations, Refunds & Cancellations

Reservations are first-come, first-served. The entire workshop fee must be paid in advance.

If for any reason there are less than 4 students registered for a workshop, TSNY reserves the right to cancel the scheduled workshop.

If TSNY cancels a workshop, registrants will receive a refund. All other reservations are nonrefundable.

The 72-hour cancellation/refund policy for regular classes does not apply to these workshops.

What are Silks?

Aerial silks, also known as tissu and fabric, are two long pieces of soft and often stretchy fabric that hang from a single point. Using strength, grace and flexibility, aerial artists climb the pieces of fabric and move into amazing and beautiful poses. Drops and rolls are an exciting and fun part of learning silks.
